Alief Neighborhood

Richly diverse, Alief is a large, densely-populated community 14 miles southwest of downtown Houston, Texas. Alief is located south of Westpark Tollway between Eldridge Parkway and Sam Houston Tollway. There are three local parks in Alief, including Brays Bayou Park and Alief-Amity Park, which contains a walking trail.

George Bush Park is six miles west. A 7,800-acre park, George Bush Park is the sixth largest city park in the nation. It contains playgrounds, several trails, a boardwalk, and Millie Bush Bark Park, a dog park with three ponds and washing stations.

Alief was settled in 1894 and has a large Asian population. Once its own city, Alief was annexed by Houston in the 1970s. Rice University is 12 miles east of Alief, and Lakeside Golf and Country Club is three miles north.
