Braeburn Neighborhood

The community of Braeburn, located in the 77074 zip code area in Houston, consists of eight subdivisions. Bordered by Sharpstown on the north and Hilcroft Avenue on the east, Braeburn is located in Harris County. The Braeburn subdivisions are known for their tree-lined streets and modern, mid-century homes.

A golfer’s delight, the center of this community is the Braeburn Country Club, located at 8101 Bissonnet Street. Established in 1926, this par-72 course offers 6,808 yards of greens and a banquet hall. Other nearby golfing options include Westwood Country Club (located to the west at 8888 Country Creek Drive) and Sharpstown Country Club (located to the north).

If golfing isn’t your thing, Emanuel Memorial Park, Braeburn Glen Park and Sharpstown Park are also in the vicinity, providing no shortage of opportunities for other outdoor activities. Running through the community are the Brays Bayou biking and hiking trails, offering 15 miles of trails for outdoor enthusiasts and fitness fanatics alike.

For shopping, residents head north to the Plazamericas Shopping Centre at 7500 Bellaire Boulevard. Further to the north and east is the Houston Galleria, the fourth largest retail center in the nation. In addition to hundreds of retail stores and restaurants, this mall also includes an indoor skating rink.

Braeburn is zoned within the Houston Independent School District. Students can choose from several nearby schools, depending on which subdivision they are zoned to. Elementary schools serving Braeburn include Bonham, McNamara, Herod, and Milne Elementary Schools. Intermediate schools include Fondren, Welch, and Sharpstown Middle School. Most subdivisions in Braeburn are zoned to Sharpstown High, but Bellaire High School is also in the area.

Immediately to the north is Houston Baptist University, at 7502 Fondren. Rice University, Texas Southern University, and the University of Houston are all located to the north and east, leaving no shortage of educational options for aspiring college students in the Braeburn area.
