Greater Greenspoint Neighborhood

The Greater Greenspoint area of Houston, Texas is a 12-square-mile tract located at the northern point of the city. Its skyscrapers, along with the Greenspoint Mall, set Greenspoint apart from the core of Houston. While some portions of the Greenspoint area are located within the Houston city limited, other areas are unincorporated. The district was formally recognized by the state of Texas in 1991 with the Hardy Toll Road, Airtex Boulevard, Veterans Memorial Drive, and West Road serving as its borders. The West Road border can be confusing even to locals, however, because there are two West Roads in the area that do not intersect.

Greater Greenspoint encompasses 18 million square feet of office, residential and retail space. Greenspoint is located 6 miles from Houston’s largest airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and is easily accessible from Highway 45 and Beltway 8. Greenspoint is home to major oil & gas companies like Canrig Drilling Technologies, Smith International, Exxon Mobil, and Noble Energy.

The Lonestar College is also located in Greenspoint, directly across from the Greenspoint Mall on Beltway 8. Greenspoint is home to 9,600 hotel rooms, the Mercer Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, and the Sam Houston Racepark, which features concerts, horse races and other weekly activities.

The CityView Park is 2.5 acres with a garden, trellis, benches, tables, and pavilion. At 11 acres, The Thomas R. Wussow Park, named after Greenspoint’s founder, is much larger than CityView. Within the park are baseball and football fields, sand volleyball courts, hiking and bicycle trails, a playground, and a public pavilion.

One of Greenspoint’s most popular destinations is the Greenspoint Mall. The mall has an equal mix of locally owned and national stores, and is home to one of the best pizza restaurants in Houston, Brother’s Pizza.
