Hilshire Village Neighborhood

Located in Harris County, the city of Hilshire Village is the smallest of six Memorial Villages in the Houston area. With just over 700 residents as of 2000, this Houston suburb is also one of the quietest of the Memorial Villages. Hilshire Village is about two miles west of the 610 loop and north of I-10, in the 77055 zip code area.

With roots that can be traced back to the 1940s, Hilshire Village was ranked the 10th wealthiest place in Texas in the 2000 census. Many of the original homes in the city were demolished in the 1990s, but some of the historic architecture still exists today.

Despite offering a quaint, quiet neighborhood, Hilshire Village is only 15 minutes from the bustling city of Houston, which is nearly straight shot on I-10. Golf fans will never run out of challenging greens, with the Houston Country Club, Memorial Park Golf Course, and River Oaks Country Club all just a short drive away.

Memorial Park also offers swimming pools, a fitness center, playing fields, tennis courts, six miles of biking trails, and nearly three miles of walking/jogging trails. For those who prefer to get their exercise indoors, The Galleria–Houston’s largest shopping center–is just a few miles away on I-610.

For budding scholars, Hilshire Village offers several education options within the Spring Branch Independent School District. Schools in the district include Valley Oaks Elementary (located in Houston), Bear Boulevard School (located in Spring Valley Village), Spring Branch Middle School (located in Hedwig Village) and Memorial High (located in Hedwig Village).

Several top-notch private and religiously affiliated schools are also located in the area, including The Monarch School and St. Cecilia School. The nearest option for college students is Northwest College’s Spring Branch campus. DIY scholars can head to the Harris County Public Library in nearby Hedwig Village.
