The Memorial Villages of Hilshire Village, Spring Valley, and Hedwig Village are neighboring communities. The Lazy Brook/Timbergrove area is located to the east. The Spring Branch East community is conveniently located within a few miles of the intersection of I-10 and I-610.

Parks to the north and east of Spring Branch East include TC Jester Park and American Legion Park. To the south is Memorial Park, which offers biking and hiking trails, tennis courts, playing fields, and swimming pools. Also to the south are three prominent golf courses: the Houston Country Club, Memorial Park Golf Course, and River Oaks Country Club.

A short jaunt down I-610 brings residents to Northwest Shopping Center. Slightly farther south, near the intersection of Post Oak Boulevard and Westheimer Road, is the Galleria, Houston’s most prominent retail center and the fourth largest shopping mall in the country. In addition to an indoor skating rink, the Galleria offers at least 375 fine dining establishments and retail stores, including many top designers like Tiffany & Co., Gucci, Cartier, and Louis Vuitton. For Spring Branch East residents that want to avoid the Galleria’s tourist crowd, the Great Uptown area also offers plenty of other dining and shopping options.

Although Spring Branch is located in Houston, it is served by the Spring Branch Independent School District, rather than the Houston ISD. Public libraries in the area include the Spring Branch Memorial Branch of the Harris County Public Library system (in Hedwig Village) and the Arnold L. Hillendahl Neighborhood Library (on Gessner Road).
