Spring Shadows Neighborhood

Spring Shadows is a relatively large neighborhood in Houston, Texas, within Harris County. More than 18,910 people reside in this community, which spans nearly four square miles. The neighborhood boundaries are Sam Houston Tollway to the west, Clay Road to the north, and Campbell Road to the east. On the south, the boundaries extend roughly to Hammerly Boulevard on the west and Neuens Road on the east. The Spring Branch Central neighborhood is adjacent to the east. Spring Shadows encompasses the 77043 and 77080 zip code area.

The majority of Spring Shadows is single-family, owner-occupied housing, built between 1970 and 1989. The median household income here ($52,111), as of 2008, was significantly higher than the Houston average ($44,315) for the same year.

Residents of Spring Shadows enjoy a health care facility within neighborhood bounds. The Menninger Clinic is located at the intersection of Gessner Drive and Kempwood Drive. Springwoods Park, although it shares the neighborhood’s western and southern boundary, is located just outside of the community. This small, neighborhood park offers Spring Shadows’ residents an opportunity to stretch their legs, but for more outdoor recreation options, they head to nearby Bear Creek Park, Memorial Park, or George Bush Park. These much larger parks, all located within five miles of Spring Shadows, offer much more in the name of amenities.

George Bush Park, the largest of the three, offers a long list of things to see and do. Unique amenities here include the equestrian trail, model airplane field, and shooting center. Dog owners and their pooches will enjoy the Millie Bush Dog Park, the first official dog park in Harris County. Your dog will enjoy running around this 15-acre park, and you’ll enjoy the scenic views of the park’s three small lakes.

If outdoor recreation isn’t your top priority, you’re also conveniently close to everything that Houston has to offer. From shopping, to dining, to entertainment, it’s all within arm’s reach when you live in Spring Shadows.
