Great Uptown Neighborhood

If you want to find plenty of dining, nightlife, culture, and shopping conveniently located in your backyard, then Houston’s Great Uptown is the place for you. Located in the 77057 zip code, this Harris County community is in close proximity to everything that the fourth most populated city in the U.S. has to offer. The housing in this area is as diverse as the entertainment options, with plenty of upscale apartments and condos for rent.

Golf fans will be on cloud nine with three major courses in the area: Houston Country Club to the west, Memorial Park Golf Course, and River Oaks Country Club to the east.

Just minutes from I-610, Great Uptown is also close to all the shopping opportunities that the Westheimer area has to offer, including The Galleria (the number one retail destination in Houston and the fourth-largest mall in the nation), the Centre at Post Oak, and the Windsor Plaza Shopping Center.

For birthdays or any day that calls for decadent desserts, nationally renowned Crave Cupcakes is located just a few minutes away at 1151 Uptown Park Boulevard. Residents of Great Uptown also have plenty of options for fine dining and nightlife. Annual events include the Uptown Holiday Lighting — celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2010 — which involves the lighting of 80 holiday trees on nearby Post Oak Boulevard.

As the name would suggest, Great Uptown also offers plenty of great cultural venues, such as the nearby Art Institute of Houston. For family fun and fitness, residents head to Tanglewood Park (to the west) and Grady Park (to the south). Nature lovers can also head down Woodway Drive (off of Sage) to the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center for a little taste of the great outdoors in Houston.
