El Dorado Neighborhood

The San Antonio community of El Dorado is located in northeast San Antonio. The neighborhood is bounded on the north by El Sendero Street and Cerro Vista Street, on the south by Leonhardt Road, on the west by Uhr Lane, and on the east by Weidner Road. The close proximity to I-35 offers easy access for residents to downtown San Antonio. The main through street in the community is Nacogdoches Road, offering plenty of dining options, as well as shopping, antiques, gyms, hotels, banks, and nightlife.

This community has about 750 homes, primarily built in the 1970s. Home prices are affordable here, averaging in the low $100,000s. Schools in the area include El Dorado Elementary School, John H. Wood Middle School, and James Madison Senior High School.

Morgan’s Wonderland is a unique family destination just south of El Dorado. This family fun park is designed specifically for children and adults with special needs, as well as their family members, caregivers, friends, and the entire community. This park allows people of all ages and abilities to have fun in a safe and friendly environment. Although the park is designed for those with special needs, three out of four visitors to the park do not have special needs. Some of the park attractions that can be found here include The Sensory Village, Butterfly Playground, Wonderland Express & Depot, Off Road Adventure Ride, the Carousel, and the Music Garden, just to name a few.

Downtown San Antonio and the surrounding areas, offer residents tons of attractions, such as the Alamo, the River Walk, Tower of the Americas, the San Antonio Zoo, and the San Antonio Botanical Garden. El Dorado Lake is a popular lake in the area for fishing. Chuck Klein Park is a fantastic park in the area to get out and have a picnic or play some ball.
