Outer Northeast Neighborhood

Outer Northeast San Antonio is located north of I-410 and east of the San Antonio International Airport. Outer Northeast includes the neighborhoods of Forest Oak, Regency Place, Perrin Park, Woodmont, and Sun Gate. The area contains Lady Bird Johnson Community Park, Morgan’s Wonderland, and Time Warner Cable Park.

The Forest Oak neighborhood is located off Nacogdoches Road in Outer Northeast. Salado Creek twists through the neighborhood along with Feeder Trail, a legendary Texas cattle-blazing trail that helped transform the Southwest into the community it is today. Salado Creek is the site of two Texas battles: the 1813 Battle of Rosillo and the 1842 Battle of Salado Creek. Today this creek is maintained with recycled water, is about 38 miles long, and winds from northern Bexar County to the San Antonio River close to Buena Vista.

You can either take the Salado Creek and the Feeder Trails south to Robert Tobin Park, or north to Ladybird Johnson Park. While LBJ Park offers a softball complex and an excellent hiking trail, Robert Tobin Park, which includes the Salado Creek Greenway, offers bike trails, statues and memorials, picnic tables, and brick walkways.

Nearby Northeast Baptist Hospital nearby provides medical care for area residents. This excellent medical facility boasts an accredited Chest Pain Center, a Sleep Center, and a Weight Loss Surgery Center.

The McNay Art Museum, Magic Lantern Castle Museum and the Texas Transportation Museum provide art, history, and entertainment to local residents. The McNay house has a large collection of many diverse types of artwork.

Major attractions in the San Antonio area include the River Walk, and the San Antonio Hike and Bike. Both of these attractions wind their way around the San Antonio River. Golf lovers can try out their skills on courses such as Silver Horn Golf Club and Canyon Springs Golf Club. For basketball fans, the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs make their home at the AT&T Center.

San Antonio also features a host of other attractions. The San Antonio Zoo, Sea World Adventure Camps, and the San Antonio Children’s Museum make great family fun.
