Palm Heights Neighborhood

Palm Heights is a neighborhood on the southwest side of San Antonio, Texas, less than 10 minutes from the heart of the downtown area. This rather large community is bound by U.S. Highway 90 on the north, Frio City Road and South Zarzamora on the west, Gladstone Avenue and State Highway 353/Nogalitos Street on the south, and Interstate 35 on the east. It is part of Bexar County and uses the 78225 zip code.

This community is largely residential. However, commercial offerings can also be found throughout, especially along the highways. Some of the options include a supermarket, pharmacies, and many popular eateries. Public and private schools within neighborhood bounds include St. James School, Palm Heights Baptist School, and Graebner Elementary.

The community’s namesake—Palm Heights Park—is situated near the center of the neighborhood, offering a community center, ball field, walking path, playground equipment, and two basketball courts. Many other parks exist within a short drive or leisurely bike ride of this community, including Conception Park and Normoyle Park. Golfers living in this community may frequent the Riverside Golf Course, located just a few miles to the east.

For more to see and do, residents of Palm Heights travel north into downtown San Antonio, host of the popular river walk and University of Texas at San Antonio campus. The downtown area also offers several major medical centers, as well as Hemisfair Park. Sports fans may frequent the Alamodome, home of the Valero Alamo Bowl. It is also a popular venue for live music and theater performances, as well as other types of shows.
