The Fort Hill neighborhood is situated southwest of the city of Lynchburg Virginia. Amenities are close by in this community. Whether you want to pick up your dry cleaning, get your hair cut and nails done or find your craft supplies, Fort Hill Village Shopping Plaza is the place to stop. This popular strip mall is located on Fort Hill Avenue, close to the Fort Hill neighborhood.

Favorite neighborhood eateries include Italian, Japanese, Indian, and Mexican cuisine in addition to the popular chain restaurants.

Recreational opportunities for residents include several city parks. Sandusky Park, a 17 acre site near the Blackwater Creek provides walking trails to enjoy wildlife, trees and plants native to the area. The Blackwater Creek Athletic Area has 19 acres available for football, softball, baseball, and soccer. A grassy area and picnic shelter gives families a great place to hold family picnics. The Wildwood Area Recreation Community Center covers 6 acres with 3 lakes and lighted tennis courts. Volleyball courts and horseshoe pits are also on site.

Lynchburg residents often visit The Blue Ridge Parkway, a journey back to America’s past. Stretching from Waynesboro, Virginia, to Ashville, North Carolina, the 469 mile road and the mountain ridge it follows is a National Park. Lynchburg residents assess the park from Highway 501. Visitors can walk through various sites that have actual homes and agricultural artifacts displayed in the various time periods of the early settlers of the area. Cherokee traditions are also displayed. Early morning visitors will be rewarded with glimpses of some of the wildlife that make their home in the park. There are overlook stops along the road for cars to pull off to enjoy and photograph the incredible view.
