The Lowell neighborhood in Everett, Washington was once a separate city. Its location on the Snohomish River was convenient to early settlers who came to the area for logging and farming the area’s fertile soil. Located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, the area later merged with the city of Everett, and it incorporated in 1893. Everett is conveniently located on Interstate 5, which travels from California to Canada. U.S. Highway 2 begins in Everett and travels over the Cascade Mountains via Stevens Pass to access Eastern Washington and the interior city of Spokane.

Cascade High School is located in the southern part of the city near Lowell, and Lowell Elementary School serves the neighborhood, as well. The University Center of North Puget Sound is also located here, as is Trinity Lutheran College, and the Everett Center of Western Washington University. The Snohomish River marks the eastern border of Lowell, and Interstate 5 marks the south. The neighborhood ends at 41st Street to the north and 71st Street to the south.
