Laurelhurst Neighborhood

Laurelhurst is a neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. This lovely neighborhood has a median family income of $137,000 per year, and the average detached home is valued at $1.3 million. The neighborhood is well known for being highly educated, which is probably due to its close proximity to the University of Washington, just to the southwest. The neighborhood is home to many doctors, lawyers, and of course, educators.

Obviously, the abundance of doctors in the area is due to having two major area hospitals. The closest is the Seattle Children’s Hospital, which is connected to the Regional Medical Center. Both are within the Laurelhurst neighborhood and provide much of the medical care for the general area. The medical center is quite large and the children’s hospital is known for its work throughout the region. Another major hospital is located next to the University of Washington just over two miles away. The University of Washington Medical Center is a popular hospital for many new doctors coming out the University of Washington. It also has some of the most well-known doctors in the area.

In the general area of the University of Washington Medical Center is, of course, the University of Washington Campus. The school is home to the popular Huskies athletic teams and provides a considerable amount of pride for area residents. It is also the largest educator in the region with many of the instructors and school elite living in or around the Laurelhurst neighborhood. The school also has numerous facilities that are open and available to the public, including their golf course, tennis courts, many play fields, and rock climbing wall.

Located in the Laurelhurst area just off of 45th Avenue is Laurelhurst Park. This large park has numerous baseball fields, tennis courts, and a large playground. It is a popular destination for the active youth in the area.
