Manito Neighborhood

Manito is a large neighborhood in Spokane, Washington, about a mile from Interstate 90. Manito is close to many of the benefits of Spokane, especially for nature lovers.

Manito Park is a 90-acre park nearby with walking, jogging, and biking trails. It also has several spectacular gardens and a greenhouse conservatory. The park has many large and stately trees, well tended lawns, a duck pond, and a playground, as well. It is a gorgeous place for the people of the neighborhood to relax, exercise, and spend time together.

Cannon Hill Park is another nearby park. It covers over 10 acres and also features a duck pond, biking trails, walking trails, and a playground. Like Manito Park, and the neighborhood of Manito in general, Cannon Hill Park also has large trees, mostly towering firs in the tradition of the Evergreen State.

The two parks, with their duck ponds and the huge trees, mean that the people of Manito also don’t need to travel in order to see wildlife. Birds and other animals are found almost everywhere. Native Americans have lived in the Spokane Valley continuously for many centuries, and a respect for nature and tradition imbue the area.

Gardening is another past time that many area residents enjoy, owing to the rich soil and wonderful moisture. Even people who prefer houseplants or container gardening have few problems with growing them in this neighborhood.
