Financial District Neighborhood

Located on the east side of downtown and bordered by the San Francisco Bay, the Financial District is the city’s hub. It is defined by its collection of high-rise office buildings, skyscrapers, banks, law firms, and several company headquarters. Two of the city’s tallest buildings, the Bank of America Building and the Transamerica Pyramid, are located in the Financial District (often called FiDi). This area is also home to restaurants, hotels, and shopping centers — including the Embarcadero Center, which consists of five office towers containing over 120 shops and restaurants.

The Financial District is near several San Francisco attractions, including the San Francisco Art Institute, the Cable Car Museum, Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39, the Curran Theatre, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Nearby parks include Sidney Walton Park and Sue Bierman Park.
